Sour Cherry Pie
– 1 pack of phyllo dough
– 1 lb of sour cherries (w/o pits)
– 3 eggs
– 3 glasses (8 oz) of white sugar
– 1 glass of oil (canola or vegetable)
– 1 glass of Kefir
– 3 glasses of water
– 8 oz of Grits
-2 teaspoons (0.35 oz) baking powder
The First step- make a filling:
In a medium size bowl put 3 eggs, 1 glass of sugar, oil, kefir, grits and baking powder.Mix it all together and leave it for 10 min.
The Second step:
Divide the cherries into three separate piles.
The Third step:
On flat surface put one sheet of phyllo dough. Take the filling with a spoon and spread evenly over the phyllo dough. Put the second sheet of dough over the first one and repeat the process.Then it comes the third sheet of the dough. Spread the filling evenly over the third one. Take one pile of cherries and spread them in two or three rows over the shorter side of the sheet. Roll in the sheets starting from the side with cherries and put it in the previous oiled metal cocking tray.
Repeat the third step three times. The filling that you didn’t use pour evenly over the rolls in the oven tray.
The forth step:
Preheat the oven to 380 degrees F. Bake the pie until it gets a golden brown color, approximately 25 minutes.
The fifth step:
Take a pot and put 2 glasses of sugar and 3 glasses of water and bring to a boil. Boil it for 7 minutes. When the pie is done slowly pour it over the pie. Cover the pie with the an aluminum foil and leave it for 15-20min.
